Belly Ring Aftercare Tips
Always listen to the advice given by a professional piercer in relation to how you should take care of your navel piercing. The following instructions are purely advisory and should any complications occur you should consult your physician as soon as possible.

Taking Care of Your Navel Piercing
Here are a few tips to help you look after your belly ring after a navel piercing:
- Firstly, you need to be able to make your own saline solution to soak your piercing. The recommended recipe is ¼ teaspoon of fine-grain, non-iodized sea salt to 1 cup (250ml) of clean warm water. The solution can’t be too strong (hypertonic) or it will irritate your skin. If your skin happens to get dry after soaks then use 1/8 teaspoon of salt instead. Soaking helps in the process of healing.
- Your piercing should be soaked in saline at least once or twice a day. Each soaking should last at least five minutes. If you are not showering afterwards make sure that you clean out any left-over salt crystals and piercing secretions with a clear water rinse.
- Avoid disturbing your belly ring at all costs. Apart from soakings and cleaning you should not touch your belly ring.
- Make sure that you never touch your belly ring with dirty hands, clothing, or equipment.
- You may be able to use added oils or potions to help the healing process but make sure that you consult a professional piercer before doing so.
